Scarlet Ember

She was a flame he could not contain.

So the fire burned crimson, then blue.

Two flames dancing, never to touch.

Embers, swirling, in their endless dance.

Flickering, breathing, sighing.

Shattered

The waves broke and the reflection remained

The tide shifting, gently.

The sand dampened and the sun began to set

Footprints disappearing on a beach long forgotten.

Snow gently fell and the soft Ocean breeze turned frigid

The water froze, briefly.

When the air warmed, the reflection began to show its cracks.

And when he went to touch his reflection, he no longer felt the gentle waves.

Instead, he felt the cold, frigid water as his reflection shattered.

Where words cannot breathe

He took a breath, yet no words came.

His heart fluttered, only for a moment.

A drum, slowly beating life’s tune.

A song long forgotten, a melody tried and true.

The words began to dance and a fire turned blue.

His feet tapped and his body sprang;

His heart fluttered, his heart sang.

So he danced in the twilight, to a tune he could no longer hear.

And he was happy.

I am…

I am the rocks as the waves come crashing to shore.

I am the beach, as the waves caress the sand.

I am the light guiding ships to safe harbor.

I am…

I am the mountains standing tall to touch the heavens.

I am the dirt that builds the foundation for which to stand.

I am the leaves that make the forest dance.

I am…

I am nothing to some, everything to all.

I am the whispers of the wind, the voice of thunder.

My bounty is plentiful but not unlimited.

I am…
